Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy has demanded the T- government to issue a white paper on minority budget and performance.
Addressing media Reddy alleged that both Owaisi brothers and Telangana government had systematically been ignoring the real issues pertaining to minorities for their selfish goals.
The PCC president slammed Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi and his brother MLA Akbaruddin for keeping silent on 12 percent reservations for Muslim which was the promise of TRS before the Assembly elections in 2014. Uttam ridiculed the review meeting held by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Sunday in which Owaisi brothers were present and described it as sham.
He alleged that their review of minorities welfare was aimed at diverting people’s attention from government’s failure to fulfill promises made during election campaign. He wondered as to how the MIM would be silent when not even 50 per cent of the budget meant for minorities was spent during 2014-15 and 2015-16.
With regard to the minorities welfare, as against Rs. 1030 crore earmarked in 2014-15 budget, only Rs. 438.27 Cr (42.52%) were released and in 2015-15 even thought Rs. 1100 Cr had been allocated not even 50% was released so far, he said.
“KCR has conveniently allowed more than Rs. 1,000 Cr meant for the welfare of minorities to lapse during the last two years. He is now trying to divert attention with new promises. Sunday’s review meeting, in the presence of Owaisi brothers, was aimed at silencing the community’ Reddy charged.
Now, with a view to hide the fact of non-release of about Rs 1000 crore, chief minister KCR in association with his MIM friends was talking of new sops for minorities, he said.
Uttam alleged that KCR, taking the help of MIM, to postpone the 12% reservations to Muslim permanently. The Congress leader demanded that a White Paper on the allocations and utilization of funds meant for minorities’ be published and added that they would raise the issue in forthcoming Assembly session.
