It is official, now. The much-awaited Hyderabad-based English newspaper, Telangana Today, is going to hit the stands on December 12, 2016.
The newspaper’s editor, K.Srinivas Reddy, fondly called as Tiger, announced this in facebook: “Telangana Today will be launched on December 12.” Hundreds of journalist friends sent congratulatory messages to Reddy and his team.
Tiger set up his team way back in May-June but the launch date got postponed due to various reasons. Tiger kept on attributing the delay to the installation of the printing machine got from Germany.
Tiger’s team got dry runs in an unprecedented scale, much to the chagrin of journalists working for the paper. “It (finalisation of the date) is a great news for us. We have been working for dummies for a long and our family members, relatives and friends in the field kept on asking us the date of launch,” an employee said.
In a news story published in June, Business Standard mentioned: “Telangana Today, the new daily, will be the second publication from Telangana Publications, the company in which the CM has an investment of a litter over Rs 4 crore (as disclosed in a 2014 affidavit.)
In an interview, Mr.Reddy, said: “KCR does not directly own the newspaper but yes, the tag is there. But my objective is to make it a neutral product, not like Namaste Telangana, the sister Telugu publication which it is important to note, was launched in 2011 during the Telangana agitation and therefore had a particular brief.” Can we expect neutrality from TT? Let’s see.
