After having a decent last year with good success ratio, Tollywood is off to a promising start in 2017. So far, a total of 8 films released including the recent one Ghazi. Out of these, four films have been termed as successful ventures as they collected good moolah at the box office.
This Sankranthi will be a remembered for years because two big ticket films, Khaidi No 150 and Gautamiputra Satakarni e emerged as big hits. Also, Sankranthi dark horse Sathamanam Bhavathi raked superb revenues despite heavy competition. Probably, the most successful Sankranthi in the history of Tollywood.
R Narayana Murthy’s Head Constable Venkatramayya and Manchu Vishnu’s Luckunnodu faded out at the box office without any trace.
Continuing his success streak, Nani bagged yet another big hit with Nenu Local. The film has been performing pretty well at the box office and already entered the profit zone. The biggest disappointment so far in 2017 comes from Akkineni Nagarjuna’s Om Namo Venkatesaya which shocked the trade circles with its dismal run. The film is likely to be a huge loss ventures for its buyers.
The most recent release, Ghazi is also likely to join the list of hits as the collections have improved on the third because of the strong word of mouth.
These apart, there are many big ticket films gearing up for release very soon. Baahubali 2, Katamarayudu, DJ and untitled Mahesh – Murugadoss film are few among them.
