Gunasekhar praises Chandrababu Naidu
The prestigious Nandi Awards announced by AP Government for the years 2014-16 seems to have turned to be a series of controversies. While some of them expressed their disrespect with their closed ones, some of them lashed out in public. Veteran director Gunasekhar took twitter to express his displeasure about his last movie Rudhramadevi getting ignored by the jury. The ace director started his question with Rudhramadevi not given tax exemption.
He reminded that Nandamuri Balakrishna’s periodic epic Gautamiputra Satakarni has been given tax exemption and for questioning this, his film Rudhramadevi has been badly ignored by the jury, which announced the Nandi awards. “In which country are we living. A film that has been made on women empowerment was not even considered for the jury award (which is given after the first, second and third best films). My sincere apologies for directing a film like Rudhramadevi” Gunasekhar added in his statement.
However hours after his statement, Gunasekhar corrected his stand and lauded AP Chief Minister Chandra Babu Naidu calling him a people’s leader. “Chandra Babu is one of the prominent leaders of the country and I was impressed with his Vision 20-20 long ago. The whole country knows about the development he initiated. I am one among his biggest admirers. He has no time to take any revenge on me. I feel there is some communication gap and I even admire Balakrishna as an actor though I am not close to him”.
“I received Nandi award for my debut film Lathi and I have received 8 Nandi awards till date in my career. Sometimes we feel bad for not getting award for our best work and this is may be because of the awards for three years announced at the same time” expressed Gunasekhar. On the whole, the ace director managed to correct his stand calling himself one of the biggest fans of Nara Chandra Babu Naidu.
