The recent statement given by the Vice President of India Mr. Venkaiah Naidu on action against the MPs who shifted parties in coming three months is rising hopes in Y.S.R. Congress Party that four MPs from the party will be disqualified.
Since three-and-half year, the YSRCP has been urging the speaker of Lok Sabha for the disqualifications of four MPs who shifted to TRS and TDP. In 2014 general elections, S.P.Y. Reddy, Kotthapally Geetha, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and Butta Renuka won from YSRCP. Later Mr. Ponguleti joined in TRS and the other three shifted to TDP.
YSRCP MP Y.V.Subba Reddy told media that the party had been asking Lok Sabha speaker to disqualify the four MPs under schedule-10 of the constitution. Besides MPs, 22 MLAs and an MLC from YSRCP were changed to TDP earlier. “Telugu Desam Party which announced ‘no opposition’ earlier is still trying to lure our MLAs. Out of 22 party changed MLAs, the TDP took four in its cabinet. It is purely unethical,” YSRCP senior leader and ex-Minister Mr. Botcha Satyanarayana said.
With recent announcement of Venkaiah Naidu, the hopes on disqualification of the four MPs, 22 MLAs and one MLC are rising in YSRCP. But, political experts are saying that there will no use if the parliament takes action as 2019 general elections will be ahead in couple of months from the action.
