The Indian government and Telangana government are jointly working through Telugu NRI organisations and Union Ministry of External Affairs. The TRS government is taking proactive measures to address the situation arising out of the detention of several Indian students in connection with their enrolment in a fraudulent university in the US, said a senior official at Telangana IT department.
Meanwhile, the Indian government has issued a demarche to the American Embassy in New Delhi. The Indian government has voiced concerns over the detention of 129 Indian students in the US and demanded for an immediate consular access to the students.
It may be recalled that eight recruiters from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh (AP) are among those booked by the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), which carried out a sting operation. These eight recruiters had provided the required fake documents to 600 students to illegally stay in the US.
These eight recruiters made a comfortable profit of over Rs 2crore ($3,00,000) by getting these students enrolled in a fake university created by the ICE as part of its undercover operation in Farmington Hills.
