Andhra Pradesh police appears to be establishing a link between Tuni violence and YSR party.
According to police sources, the CID, which is investigating into the case, is likely to summon former MLA and TTD board chairman Bhuman Karunakar Reddy for questioning. Karunakar Reddy, a close confidante of YS Rajasekhar Reddy represented Tirupati assembly constituency. He was appointed chairman Tirumala Tirupati Devastanams (TTD). From the beginning the chief minister Chandrababu Naidu has been suspecting the role of Opposition YSRC in the violence that erupted on January 30 in Tuni when Kapu leader Mudraagada Padmanabham organized Kapu Garjana. The CM gave clean chit to Kapus by stating that the Kapus were a peace-loving community and never resorted to violence earlier.
But, Kapu reservation movement leader Mudragada Padmanabham, on the other hand, alleged that chief minister Chandrababu Naidu was responsible for violence at Tuni. Padmanabham alleged that the Telugu Desam party brought in anti-social elements to create trouble and disrupt otherwise a peaceful agitation of Kapu caste. Talking media, a day after the Tuni violence, the Kapu leader asserted that his Kapu followers would never cross the Lakshmana Rekha and foment trouble.
From the beginning, there has been a race to fix the accountability for the Ratnanchal Express burning to suit the political ends of the important political parties in the state. While the CM ruled out the role of Kapus and implicate YSRCP, the protagonist of Kapu movement has always maintained that it was the handiwork of TDP.
Now, information from the Police points to the suspected role of Bhuman Karunakar Reddy of YSRC. Is it a ploy to divert the attention from land purchases in capital area to the forgotten Tuni violence and win over the Kapus by the TDP?
