YSRCP supremo and leader of the Opposition in AP Assembly YS Jaganmohan Reddy will keep off the foundation stone laying ceremony of Amaravathi on October 22, in which PM Modi is the chief guest.
He informed this decision to Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu in an open letter this afternoon.
He said he would not be a party to the ceremony that was being conducted in an oppressive regime which trampled on the natural livelihood rights of rural masses and snatched away of their sole source of livelihood.
He also asked the CM not to dispatch any letter to him. ” I know, you extend the invitation only to blame me later that Jagan had not attended the function even though invited. The people of this state and I know it pretty well that this is the program you will give it to that shouting brigade of half a dozen minister,” he said at the very outset of the letter.
In the three-page letter he decried the splurging of Rs 400 crore tax-payers money on the extravaganza of foundation stone laying ceremony which lasts just a day.
Jagan raised eight issues for not attending the foundation stone ceremony:
1. You (chief minister Nairu) have taken away farmers’ lands, which yield three crops a year, against their will and at the knife point.
2. Why have you imposed Section 30 and Section 144 in the capital region, if you believe that people are happy to part with their lands and there has been no opposition whatsoever.
3. We protest your lack of respect for Courts and law . You have totally ignored the direction of Green Tribunal on the capital lands. It anti democratic.
4. I want to keep off the program in protest against your attitude towards assigned lands of the poor people and the way you took them back.
5. We believe that the construction of capital is going on for commissions and the way you are transferring the lands to the Singapore companies reeks of a scam. So, We want to keep away from the Scam that is unfolding.
6. Centre has already given the state Rs 1850 crore for laying the ring road and other infrastructural works. The centre is also willing to reimburse the future expenditure as well. In this backdrop where is need to crawl before the Singapore companies or for that matter any other foreign company.
7. There involved a huge insider-trade. Your proxies have already bought large swathes of land. And you are snatching the lands for capital construction only from the poor without touching the lands of your near and dear ones.
8. Your are splurging taxpayers money to tune of Rs 400 crore on foundation laying ceremony. I want refrain from attending the atrocious foundation laying ceremony in protest against this extravaganza.
” The foundation you are laying is not for people’s capital and it is definitely not a ‘poor’s capital.This stands for real estate business and amassing of illegal wealth. It is meant to transfer crores of illegal money with foreign companies as conduits.”
As this foundation stone laying ceremony was being organized to rob the farmers of their lands I have decided not to attend the ceremony protesting the cruelty involved the in capital project, he added as the last word in the letter.
