Government of Telangana in association with stakeholders is planning to set up a world-class and first of its kind agency in the country- ‘ Animation, Visual effects, Gaming & Comics Academy’ to impart requisite communication skills, artistic skills and domain knowledge to the students.
This has been revealed in just announced Telangana Image Policy, 2016. The policy aims at transforming Hyderabad into a ‘most favored’ destination for investment in Animation, Visual effects and allies sectors. It seeks to attract the global major R&D companies in the sectors into the state. The policy has been formulated under the guidance of state IT and Municipal minister K T Ramarao.
This Academy will help create the talent pool that is needed to incubate new ideas and foster entrepreneurship in the Telangana Animation Industry. The Academy would be set up with active involvement and association of reputed Animation, Visual effects, Gaming & Comics Industry leaders, to maintain the balance between theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of Animation, Visual effects, Gaming & Comics areas.
The Government will also encourage establishing Colleges/institutes/Academy (Government registered Colleges) and universities for long term education in Creativity, Film, Content, Digital, Animation, VFX, Gaming, performing arts, IT & Design and introducing Degree and Diploma Certifications.
To achieve this the government will set up a panel of experts from the industry for designing vocational courses in various disciplines of AVGC. Another important aspect of the policy is proposal to set up Digital Content Commission, and Media & Entertainment Skill Development Council. This Council will work towards development of skills required for Animation, Visual effects, Gaming & Comics Industry. The Telangana government has also proposed to set up Telangana Animation and Gaming City (image city) in Ranga Reddy district.
