GPSK TRP, MEK TRP
Megastar Chiranjeevi and Nandamuri Balakrishna, the two legendary actors of Telugu cinema, who scored career resurrecting hits this Sankranthi with their respective films, have surprisingly received shockers on Television.
Balayya’s landmark hit Gautamiputra Satakarni, which became his first Rs 50 Cr film, had its world TV premiere on 29th March, the eve of Ugadi festival. And, the historical film registered an embarrassingly low TRP Rating of 5.52.
In comparison, Dil Raju brand family entertainer Shatamanam Bhavathi, which emerged the 2017 Sankranthi winner at box office, has garnered record TRP rating of 15.4. This Sharwanand starrer was telecast this Sunday. As you can see, the TRP of Balayy’s GPS (5.52) is very less compared to the rating of Shataman Bhavathi (15.4).
Coming to TV shows, Megastar Chiranjeevi hosted game show Meelo Evaru Koteeswarudu (MEK) continues to underperform. In the last three weeks, MEK registered pathetically low TRP Ratings of 3.62, 2.38 and 2.53. To understand, how lame the performance of MEK4 is, take the example of Anasuya hosted game show ‘Jackpot’ which recorded a rating of 4.11 last week.
Although the MEK team has made desperate attempts of increasing the number of celebrity-episodes and took weekend slots as well, no improvement was seen in the ratings of this game show. This is truly a huge embarrassment for Megastar. Given the spineless performance of MEK 4th Season, we wonder if there will be a 5th season.
