In both the audio launch event held in Chennai and the pre-release event held in Hyderabad, Mahesh Babu delivered two emotional speeches, and expressed how important SPYder was for his career and how excited he was for the release. Director Murugadoss also heaped praises on Mahesh for his unconditional support during the shooting. Has Mahesh got complacent with his efforts for SPYder, which is unarguably the most crucial film in his career.
Less than a week remains for the release of Spyder and Mahesh hasn’t yet started promotional activities. Murugadoss and the producers are also surprisingly apathetic on promotional front. The film’s PRO claims that Mahesh will give media interviews on Sep 25. How far will they help for the film’s cause when the US premieres are planned on 26th Sep, and the movie is having a release on 27th Sep all over India?
During the promotions of ‘Srimanthudu’, Mahesh talked about the importance of publicity in this age and said that he would allot 2-3 weeks for all his future releases. And, what is he doing when there is just 5 days remaining for the release of Spyder, the film for which he had spent more than a year, the film which is his biggest opportunity to crack Tamil market and the film which is his immediate next release after delivering a humiliating disaster, ‘Brahmotsavam’?
The star hero is busy shooting for ‘Bharat Ane Nenu’. Buyers, fans and even common movie goers wonder why desert promotions of Spyder to shoot for a film which will release next year. We saw how aggressively NTR had promoted ‘Jai Lava Kusa’ and how much hype he managed to create for it. In the real scenario, even Sharwanand’s ‘Mahanubhavudu’ has more buzz than Spyder.
Rs 120 crore is at stake on Spyder. Mahesh needs to realize that appreciating the producers on investing such huge money on his film won’t do any good if he doesn’t promote the film even at the eleventh hour.
