M.P Suresh Gopi arrested and released
Remember Suresh Gopi? Malayal actor who had his dubbing movies like “Police commissioner” running for 50 days in Andhra Pradesh in early 90s. He recently played a negative role in Shankar’s “I” movie. He currently serves as a Member of Parliament (M.P.) in the Rajya Sabha. He recently landed in a controversy, arrested by Police and released on bail.
Suresh Gopi was arrested in the case related to luxury vehicle tax evasion. The case related to alleged forging of documents by Gopi to get his two luxury cars registered in Puducherry for evading vehicle tax in the state. The police had registered an FIR against the actor, charging Gopi with falsifying and fabricating documents by showing an address in the union territory and getting the vehicles registered there, causing revenue loss to the Kerala government. However, he was immediately released on a bond of Rs. 1 lakh along with two sureties for the like amount, as had been directed by the Kerala High Court while granting him anticipatory bail.
The actor had said he registered the two vehicles in Puducherry, where he owns agricultural land which was being looked after by family members, including his brothers and so argues, there is no fabrication of any documents. Recently, heroine Amala Paul also landed in a similar controversy.
