Mc Donald’s First branch in Nellore,Andhra Pradesh
Andhra Pradesh is finally in the spotlight for McDonald’s India as it announced its first restaurant in the recently formed state. The announcement was made by Hardcastle Restaurants Private (HRPL), a subsidiary of West life Development Limited, to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE). West life Development Limited owns the franchisee rights for McDonald’s branches in west as well as south India.
Gerald Dias, Director of McDonald’s South Indian business operations, conveyed his delight to introduce the first restaurant in Nellore. He also stated that the aim was to satisfy customers with a variety of healthy offerings in lunch as well last dinner. 98% of all ingredients used would also be sourced locally.
HRPL’s function is to kickstart and operate fast food restaurants in India. It has had the rights to ownership and operation of McDonald’s branches in the southern and western regions of the country since 1996.
It currently operates 236 McDonald’s restaurants across 30 Indian cities while providing em-ployment to 7,500 employees. These branches provide services to nearly 200 million customers on an annual basis.
