Member of Rajya Sabha and Congress leader Konidela Chiranjeevi penned a letter to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday regarding the evacuation of the Scavengers colony in the 18th Ward in Tirupati.
In his letter, the MP wrote that the government in an unfair manner is trying to relinquish the Scavenger colony which is in the heart of Tirupati. He wrote that it is unjust to evacuate the families of the weaker sections of sanitation workers and Yanadi families residing in the colony for a long time.
He accused that the government doesn’t like the colony present in the heart of Tirupati. So, in an attempt to hand it over 2.34acres of the land to private persons, Tirupati Municipal Corporation is falsely promising the residents of rehabilitation.
Chiranjeevi in his letter recalled that he had taken up several development programs in the Scavenger Colony when he was an MLA. He reportedly wrote the colony to be kept as is and be further developed.
