Telugu Desam party national president Chandrababu Naidu has reportedly turned down the request of Telangana Telugu Desam leaders to nominate one member from the state to the Rajya Sabha.
Much to the disappointment of the Telangana TDP leaders, dishonoring his own theory of ” two-states-two-eyes” Naidu is said to have told them that he had been under tremendous compulsions from Andhra leaders and accommodating T-TDP leaders was not possible this time round.
According to a TDP leader from Telangna, this was not the reason. The real reason behind his decision not to nominate anybody from Telangan is that Naidu lost confidence in the T-leaders. Having been ditched by 12 MLAs and one Rajya Sabha member recently he is finding it difficult to believe who is genuine , who is a fence sitter.
Naidu is not able to understand the desertions of senior leaders such as Erraballi Dayakar Rao, G Sayanna, Rajya Sabha member Gundu Sudharani etc, whom he promoted over many other leaders. All of them ditched him to join TRS and continuing as TDP MLAs in the ruling party.
” Naidu is really serious to build the party in Telangana. He is ready to go to any extent to instill confidence among the party workers. But, the circumstances in Telangana have not become favorable yet due to the aggressive poaching policy of TRS leadership. He is not sure who is his man and who is not. If he nominates somebody to the RS, what if, after two or three months, stating that in the interest of Bangaru Telangana, the new MP chooses to crosse over to TRS,” said reliable source in TDP.
From Telangana senior leaders such as L Ramana, who is president of Telangana state unit, Motku Narasimhulu, a farmer minister and many other leaders are aspirants for the Rajya Sabha ticket. They hoped that they would get Rajya Sabha nomination so that they could work with enthusiasm in a state where the party is almost on the deathbed. The topic came up discussion in the Politburo meeting held in Vijayawada two days ago.
