Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on his two-day visit to the national capital submitted the revised estimates of Polavaram project to Finance Minister Arun Jaitely. The revised cost estimate is around Rs 54,113crore excluding the power house, while the earlier estimate was at Rs 16,000 crore. The state will bear about Rs 4,205.66 crore related to the power house.
The Union government has also agreed to release Rs 2800 crore project dues.
As part of AP reorganisation act, the Centre has corresponded to bear the expenses incurred after April 1, 2014 completely as it is a national project.
Chandrababu is hopeful that the TDP government will complete the project by 2019.
