The Andhra Pradesh high court on Friday posted the two cases on TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu to the month-end. The inner ring road alignment case was posted to November 29, while the free sand issue was posted to November 30.
The advocates arguing for Chandrababu Naidu told the court that the inner ring road work did not commence. It was only in the planning state and there was no corruption involved in the road alignment, they told the court.
The advocates said that whatever the state government or the CID were attributing to Chandrababu Naidu in the ring road alignment was an assumption. When there is no work done on the project, where is the question of corruption, they asked.
In the free sand issue too, the advocates of Chandrababu Naidu told the court that the policy had helped in increasing the construction activity in the state. They said that the construction activity had benefited the government in the form of GST collections.
They regretted that the present YSR Congress government had targeted the TDP regime only with political vengeance. They also told the court that successive governments cannot take political vengeance against the previous governments. This would derail the administration and demoralise the bureaucracy, they told the court.
On hearing the arguments of Chandrababu Naidu’s advocates, the court posted the cases to November 29 and November 30 respectively. The court also directed the state government not to arrest Chandrababu Naidu before the court begins hearing on the cases.
The advocates for the CID and the state government would present their arguments when the court takes up the case on those days.
