Nirmal Assembly segment in undivided Adilabad district is experiencing costly poll-war as the candidates from all parties have taken the fight as prestigious. Sources are saying that the expenditure being spent by the candidates is almost equal to all the other segments in the undivided Adilabad district.
Minister Mr. A.Indrakaran Reddy, who won from BSP and later joined in TRS, is contesting from the ruling party TRS and he is facing the district congress president Mr. Eleti Maheswar Reddy as his main opponent. From BJP, prominent doctor Dr. Swarna Reddy is in the poll-war. Besides the trio, few others are contesting from BSP, BLF and as independent. While the BSP is planning to protect their seat, Mr. A.I.K.Reddy took the elections as serious while Congress wanted to make Nirmal as its stronghold.
Sources said that majority of candidates are assisting village, mandal and assembly segment level leaders financially with Rs. 5 lakh, Rs. 10 lakh and Rs. 30 lakh respectively to divert their cadre and voters for casting their votes to them. “Some candidates are distributing at least Rs. 2,000 per house that consisting of two voters and more in cases of more voters. Another candidate procured large number of gold rings and distributing it to each house. Besides this, it became common package to all the candidates that consists of Rs. 500, Biryani, Bear Bottle per day to for party workers and hired public who attend meetings of the candidates,” the sources added.
On Saturday, the Static Surveillance Team along with police has seized Rs. 80 lakh from a car at Punjab-Chowrasta in Adilabad Town. Police identified the cash was belonging to a merchant of the town and was being transported to Nirmal. Police is suspecting that the cash was sending for distributing it to voters.
