With the both treasury benches and opposition parties sticks their own positions and in the absence of attempts to resolve the impasse, stalemate continues today also in Parliament. Proceedings of both the houses disrupted admist uproar by the opposition. As a result the Lok Sabha ws adjourned for the day and the Rajya Sabha till 2 pm.
When the Lok Sabha reassembled at noon after first adjournment, opposition members demanded discussion on the issue under rule which entails voting. Speaker Sumitra Mahajan appealed them to start discussion without any rule on this issue.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar has accused the Congress of shying away from the debate on demonetisation issue. He also said, the government is ready for a discussion on the issue since day one of the ongoing session of Parliament.
Earlier, Mallikarjun Kharge of Congress requested the Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan to accept the demands of opposition to have a debate under rules which entail voting as it is an important issue. Kahrge alleged that people are facing lot of inconveniences due to the scrapping of high value notes.
Jai Prakash Narayan Yadav of RJD also demanded discussion on the issue under rules having provisions of voting. Sudip Bandyopadhyay of TMC and P Karunakaran of CPI(M) also pressed for similar demands. Bharturhari Mahtab of BJD said that government should come forward to find a way out so that the debate could be initiated.
In the Rajya Sabha, opposition members demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should first tender apology to the House for his reported remarks against them outside Parliament. Chairman Hamid Ansari suspended the Question Hour and asked AU Singh Deo (BJD) to resume the discussion.
However, the agitating members continued their demand forcing the Chairman to adjourn the House for fifteen minutes. Earlier, Opposition Leader Ghulam Nabi Azad said, people are in distress due to demonetisation.
