For the continuous second day, the opposition stalled the proceedings in Lok Sabha and forced to adjourn for the day, till Monday. The continuous uproar by the opposition demanding discussion on demonetization issue under the rule having voting provision, makes the Speaker Sumitra Mahajan unable to conduct proceedings.
Amidst uproar only, she allowed members to mention issues during zero hour. As soon as the House met at noon after first adjournment, the members from Congress, Left, SP, RJD and others trooped into the well shouting slogans against the government decision.
Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge again demanded that the issue of scrapping of Rs 1000 and Rs 500 denomination notes be discussed through an adjournment motion and not the rule proposed by the government. However, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar said the government is ready to discuss the issue under rule 193 which does not have voting provisions.
Amid the opposition disruptions, some MPs from treasury bench also shouted slogans against Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad remarks in the Rajya Sabha yesterday on demonetization demanding his apology. Amid the noisy scene, the Sepaker tried to conduct the Zero Hour and some members raised the matter of urgent importance but later she adjourned the House for the day.
