Pushpaka Vimanam review
Final Report:
Telugu360 Rating: 2/5
Tollywood sensation Vijay Deverakonda is focused on the career of his brother Anand Deverakonda who is yet to taste success. His last film Middle Class Melodies released on Amazon Prime and the response was decent. He now tested his luck with Pushpaka Vimanam which is produced by Vijay Deverakonda’s King of the Hill Entertainment. Damodara is the director and Sunil, Geeth Saini, Harsha Chemudu, Sanvi played other important roles. Pushpaka Vimanam released today and here is the complete review of the film:
Story:
Pushpaka Vimanam is the story of Sundar (Anand Deverakonda) who is a teacher in a government school. He is a guy who is calm and focused on himself. He dreams about his life partner and about the journey with her in the future. He gets married to Meenakshi (Geeth Saini) through an arranged marriage. After shifting to Hyderabad post wedding, his wife elopes. To cover this, Sundar struggles hard. He hires a girl to play the role of his wife to convince his colleagues and neighbors. During this process, Sundar starts hunting for the whereabouts of his wife. After days, Meenakshi passes away and the murder case lands on the head of Sundar. The rest of Pushpaka Vimanam is all about how Sundar escapes from the case and is about the real culprit behind the crime.
The story and the script have no relation to the title ‘Pushpaka Vimanam ‘. The audience will be left surprised about the film and the title. The director never sticks to a single genre which is the major disadvantage of the film. There are a lot of films with similar plots that are directed by Jandhyala and SV Krishna Reddy in the past. Sundar struggles hard to present his missing wife to the society. All these episodes are outdated and boring. The comic episodes with the hired wife are decent at times. Veteran actor Naresh manages to generate enough smiles in the film.
The first half of Pushpaka Vimanam offers nothing except some entertainment at times. The interval episode prepares the audience that the film has a murder mystery. There are no interesting twirls in the murder mystery and the film falls flat. Sunil plays a cop who investigates the murder but the episodes are completely outdated. The scenes of Sundar’s hired wife in the police station are decent in the second half. The rest of the film is a huge misfire. Sundar who is a calm guy comes up with a mind game and traces the real culprit. This will leave the audience in surprise.
Performances:
Anand Deverakonda has been trying different scripts for sure and he is not picking up regular commercial capers. He looks perfect as a school teacher and a middle-class husband who stages a hunt for his wife. Geeth Saini never looks like a good pair beside Anand. She also lacks the features of a heroine. The other heroine Sanvi looked better on-screen and she has impressive scenes in the second half of Pushpaka Vimanam. Harsha Vardhan did a decent job in his role. Naresh was good with his comic timing. Sunil as a cop wasn’t used in the right manner.
Pushpaka Vimanam offers nothing new except a different plot. The casting is the major disappointment of the film and Pushpaka Vimanam is made on a shoestring budget. The cinematography work looks poor and this may be because of the restricted budget. The production values are quite poor. The wedding song looks decent on screen. Except for some comic episodes, Pushpaka Vimanam is a film that fails badly in all the ways.
Verdict:
Pushpaka Vimanam starts off on a decent note but misses the track as the film proceeds. The entire second half of the film is a huge disappointment.
