Leaders of Rayalaseema region said fighting for separate if Rayalaseema state was the only option available for the people to resolve the longstanding problems of the region.
The intellectuals of the region who met in Kadapa on Sunday discussed the issues of Rayalaseema and an action plan to mobilize people in that direction.
Region’s important intellectuals such as Bhuman, Arun Sarma, Bojja Dasarathrami Reddy, Dr MY Ramanana Reddy, Pani, Bandi Narayanaswamy, Varalakshmi, Khalander, Dr Krishnamurthy, Balasundaram etc. They lamented that there had been no change in the government’s policies towards Rayalaseema even after the bifurcation of the state. The meeting was organized under the aegis of Rayalaseema Vidyavantula Vedika.
Bojja Dasaratha Rami Reddy, general secretary of ‘All India Farmers Federation’ said this injustice had continued to the region and wondered how the political leaders from the region had been silent on it.
They said the Sri Bagh pact, which was signed to reassure justice to the region had been thrown to the winds and entire development was being concentrated in coastal region alone. ” Even after the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, Amaravati, coastal and Vizag have become the growth corridors. Rayalaseema doesn’t figure in the present government’s scheme of development,” they alleged. Bhuman said all the GOs issued in the past 17 months of TDP regime clearly points to the anti-Rayalaseem bias in the TDP government.
The leaders said both chief minister Naidu and opposition leader Jaganmohan Reddy were ignoring the interests of the state and perpetrating the backwardness of the region.
M V.Ramana Reddy, noted writer from the region said separate statehood for Rayalaseema was the need of the hour.
“This is the only solution for resolving the problems.” he added.
Seven booklets about the irrigation were released in meeting to educate the people of the region.
