After taking over as the Telangana PCC chief, Revanth Reddy has filled the party with dynamism and activism. But one section of the party still feels that despite the change of guard, they should remain in the old mould. They haven’t changed and appear averse to change. They are the party’s spokesperson.
Soon after taking over, Revath has appointed over a dozen spokespersons for the party in Telangana. He had even divided them into two categories – seniors and juniors. He chose the most articulate, effective and argumentative of them and hoped that they would voice the Congress Party’s stand on various issues. He believed they would remain effective carriers of the party’s ideology.
However, most of these spokespersons are rarely acting as the party’s mouthpieces. Some haven’t spoken a word so far. Some are keeping away from the party’s work and are said to be focusing on other things. Some are occasionally seen in the Gandhi Bhavan but were never seen addressing the media. In fact, addressing the media has become the responsibility of the PCC chief and CLP leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka.
Only two leaders – Addanki Dayakar and Tejawat Bellaiah Naik – are seen on TV screens. Another spokesperson Harivardhan Reddy is not regular. He occasionally sparkles in the media outings. Sircilla Rajaiah and Nerella Sarada are yet to take up their new job seriously. Another spokesperson Riaz is seen only during the party meetings. Kailash of Munugodu and Ravali too are yet to take up their jobs.
