A day after Leader of Opposition YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s tour in Amaravati capital region, both the rival parties today resorted to mark their protest against each other by cleaning roads, in a novel way.
Ruling TDP and opposition YSRCP supporters kept themselves busy in the capital region `cleaning’ roads, apparently to `cleanse’ paths travelled by rival party leaders. This has led to tension for a while and makes the police to intervene to disperses them.
TDP supporters marched from Malkapuram to Velagapudi, near temporary secretariat and sprinkled turmeric water on the roads apparently to cleanse them where YSRC chief toured the previous day. They were allegedly even tore down the flexies of Jagan Mohan Reddy put up during his visit.
In retaliation, YSRCP activists too took out a rally and cleaned the places visited recently by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu with cow dung water and cow urine. They attempted to cleanse the Prakasam Barrage road which connects the capital region with Vijayawada. That’s the road on which chief minister travels to work in his temporary office in Vijayawada every day.
Trouble started when rival protests reaches down to Tadepalli at the far end of the barrage road from opposite directions. Ranged against each other, they raised slogans, hurled choice epithets and demanded apologies from the other side. Though Section 144 is in force in the Amaravati capital region, neither party had the permission of the police to hold their protests.
Later, YSRCP leader and former MLA Jogi Ramesh strongly criticised the TDP Government for trying to obstruct the Jagan Yatra. “Should YS Jagan take permission from Chandrababu to tour the AP capital area? Did Chandrababu Naidu take any permission from YS Rajasekhara Reddy, when he toured the state as an Opposition leader?” he asked.
On the other hand, TDP MLA Budda Venkanna accused that Jgan Mohan Reddy had visited the capital region with a malicious intention when Chief Minister was outside the country. He described the leader of opposition as a poisonous drop in a pot of milk.
