It is an inevitable fact that Rajinikanth’s Robot, which released in 2010, set new standards for Indian films from thereon and also changed the global perception about the quality and use of modern technology in our films. Based on the concept of Robotics, the film was directed by erudite filmmaker Shankar. The film went on to collect huge numbers and bagged various laurels in many film festivals across the globe.

Now, over the past few weeks, there is a lot of buzz in the Tamil media circles about the sequel and even Shankar hinted that Robot 2 will go on floors very soon. As per the latest update, Robot 2 will be formally launched on December 12th which happens to be Rajinikanth’s birthday. It is heard that the pre production works are going on and soon they will come to an end. Rajinikanth will complete his next film Kabali by December and start shooting for Robot 2. Shankar is considering a couple of Bollywood heroines for this film.
