After pulling a casting coup of sorts by bringing Shraddha Kapoor, Neil Nitin Mukesh and Arun Vijay on board, the makers of Prabhas’ Saaho have decided to rope in a bunch of outdated Bollywood artists for crucial roles in the film. The list includes Chunky Pandey, Jackie Shroff, Tinnu Anand, Mandira Bedi and Mahesh Manjrekhar.
While it is too early to predict the weight of their characters in this multilingual film, it is clearly evident that the makers are running after not-so-popular now Bollywood artists. In an attempt to make a pan India film they might loose the Telugu nativity as none of those veteran Hindi actors are popular down South.
Prabhas’ blockbuster film Baahubali, which made him a national icon, featured only South Indian artists and it performed exceptionally well in Northern territories because of its strong content and flawless narration.
It remains to be seen how cleverly director Sujeeth handles the pile of Hindi actors without missing the nativity factor. Well, Prabhas might have achieved stardom in Bollywood circles after Baahubali, but it is the Telugu states where he has stronghold. Let’s wait and see.
