Padmavati will not hit the screens before March
Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus Padmavati has been occupied with controversies and the release of the film has been kept on hold. The film has been initially planned to release on December 1st but the protests across the country left the makers puzzled. With no choice, the makers decided to postpone the film. Along with these, Padmavati has been facing the heat from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
The film’s censor scrutiny has been kept on hold in November citing incomplete application. The latest news is that the makers of Padmavati in the application to the CBFC stated that it is partially based on the historic facts. Now the Censor Board will scrutinize the content to check the authenticity. This is a long process and Padmavati is expected to get the censor certificate only in January if things go smooth. Over 40 films are currently in line for censor scrutiny in the coming days and Padmavati should have to wait in the queue.
The promotions of the film are yet to be kick-started and with a mad rush of films lined up in Bollywood, the makers are keen on releasing the film in March informed a source from the movie unit. As of now, Sanjay Leela Bhansali and his team are praying for a smooth censor scrutiny. Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh played the lead roles in Padmavati.
