Megastar Chiranjeevi’s historical period drama SyeRaa Narasimha Reddy is one of the costliest films in Tollywood till date. The film traces the journey of unsung freedom fighter Uyyalawada. While the shooting formalities of this highly anticipated film are happening at a brisk pace, here is what actually happened before the project got materialised.
SyeRaa script was originally offered to Nandamuri Balakrishna by Paruchuri Brothers long back when he was working on Vamshodarakudu. Star producer MS Reddy and director Jayanth C Paranji were supposed to work for this film. A character sketch of NBK was also designed at that time. The estimation of budget to make this film in those days was nearly 50 Crores which is on the higher side as per the market at that time. So, the producer and director had to back out from the project.
A decade and more later, Chiru was approached to play the lead role in this historical film. Even Chiru expressed reservations because of the staggering budget involved in making it. He felt that it would be risky to invest such a mammoth budget for a Telugu film. But, the roaring success of Baahubali franchise in all regions has prompted Chiru and team to revive the project and finally start working on it.
Directed by Surender Reddy, the film has an ensemble cast in prominent roles.
