As the Telangana Telugu Desam Party (TTDP) is gearing up for ‘Telangana Mahanadu’ on May 24 at Exhibition Grounds in Hyderabad, reports surfaced that the top leaders of party are considering to switch allegiance to the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi(TRS).
TRS leaders have repeatedly said that “TDP has no future in Telangana”. The mass defections wherein 12 TDP MLAs switched to TRS left only three legislators – A Revanth Reddy, S Venkata Veeraiah and R Krishanaih in the yellow party.
Consequently, speculations are rife that the TRS high command is reaching out to TTDP leaders who still have strong hold with people as part of Operation Akarsha. Leaders who were contemporaries of KCR, belonging to almost 7 erstwhile districts are have discussions with the ruling party in Telangana. As a part of Operation Akarsha, KCR has been offering assembly tickets to contest, big posts and significance in party matters.
However, TDP working president Revanth Reddy rubbished the allegations of him defecting from the party. He earlier confirmed that TDP will not merge with TRS.
