Telugu Desam Party won the Kakinada Municipal Corporation elections after three decades. TDP has been roaring from the time counting commenced on Friday and the party candidate is likely to adorn the Mayor post.
TDP won in 32 divisions, while opposition YSRCP in 10, BJP in 3 and others in 3. Congress failed to win in even one division. Kakinada Municipal Corporation elections were conducted for 48 divisions in 196 polling stations with a voter turnout of about 67 percent.
The counting of votes began today with 14 tables being arranged for the counting process at Rangaraya medical college in Kakinada.
Kakinada went for Corporation elections after a gap of seven years. Elections were conducted on Tuesday in 48 wards of the corporation. Ruling TDP contested in 39 divisions leaving nine to its ally BJP while YSRCP contested in all the divisions.
