Both the Telugu states have decided to create supernumerary posts to absorb employees hailing from their respective states, but working in their state. This understanding was reached at the meeting of the two states held at Raj Bhavan last evening, in the presence of Governor ESL Narasimhan.
This was the second such meeting held by the Governor to resolve contentious issues between two states. Accordingly, 600 posts will be created by Telangana for absorbing the agitating power utility employees of Andhra origin who were relieved from the state.
Around 1,050 power utility employees of AP origin were relieved by Telangana. The employees approached the court and are getting salaries from the Telangana government now.
Likewise, around 1,200 Telangana-origin employees, mostly Grade-IV employees, who are currently working in the AP State Secretariat at Amaravati, will be repatriated to Telangana once the TS government creates the supernumerary posts. Around 160 AP-origin employees, most of them of gazetted rank, are working in the Telangana State Secretariat.
Meanwhile, the meeting is said to be failed to achieve any major break-through on several contentious issues. The two states decided on bifurcation of nine institutions (listed in 9th Schedule of AP Re-organisation Act) where they are on the same page. However, those are insignificant and non-functioning institutes, without resources, buildings or even considerable number of staff members.
While AP is represented by ministers Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, K Achannaidu and Govt. Chief Whip K Srinivasulu, Telangana is represented by ministers T Harish Rao, Jagadeswar Reddy and government adviser G Vivek.
Harish Rao appealed to Yanamala Ramakrishnudu to hand over the possession of the Secretariat and Assembly buildings, besides officers’ quarters in Hyderabad, which were vacated by AP. AP ministers assured to get back to them in the next meeting scheduled in Hyderabad on February 26, after consulting their Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu.
