For cheap politicians to petty officials to top class sports persons, media is the easy target to vent out their frustration.
Under fire for having missed a penalty in draw with Austria and under tremendous pressure to deliver in the prestigious European Championship, Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo behaved badly with a television reporter hours before a crucial match in Lyon in France last night.
The CMTV reporter approached the 31-year-old ‘God of football’ and asked him about his preparedness for the next game against Hungary. Irritated by this, the star footballer grabbed the microphone, threw it in a roadside lake and went away much to the chagrin of the media crew.
A pool of talent, Portugal are without a win so far at Euro-2016 resulting in the bad mood of the entire team. The coach Fernando Santos dismissed queries about the captain’s state of mind. “The day after the first game you said Cristiano was all smiles. After the first match your stories were that Cristiano was all smiles and now it is that he’s not smiling. I am sure he will get over everything and do what he does best. He’s always proved that what he does best is score and I’m sure he will do everything to be anxiety free to score,” he maintained.
In the match against Hungary, Ronaldo came up with two goals, including a bullet header, but the match ended in a 3-3 draw. However, both teams entered into the round 16. Ronaldo must be a happy soul, for now!
